A Speculative History of Dutch Fashion
Graphic design exhibition, wall texts, wallpaper design and newspaper

A Speculative History of Dutch Fashion is one of the exhibitions in the Temporary Fashion Museum that took place from September 2015 – May 2016 at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam.

Is there such a thing as Dutch Fashion? And if so, does it have a specific style, how did it come into being and more important how would the Dutch fashion community approach its own history? In eight scenes a purely speculative canon of Dutch fashion is constructed, giving central stage to the Dutch customer.

The constructed character of this speculative history is highlighted by the design of the newspaper that alludes to newspaper cut-outs. By puzzling them back together, the form of the newspaper plays with the balance of fact and fiction.
